Sightseeing in Japan
The rich topographical variety produced by many mountains, gorges, rivers, lakes, marshes and a complex coastline, together with the clearly defined four seasons, provide Japan with many sightseeing spots where the beautiful of nature can be enjoyed.
Also, the presence of many volcanoes provides an abundance of hot spring areas, most of which have become health resorts. The most representative of these have been designated national or quasi-national parks.
Those who wish to learn something about the progress of Japanese culture, may do so by visiting Japan’s old cities and other spots which form a backdrop to Japan’s long history, by looking at old temples, shrines and gardens and by admiring images of Buddha and objects of fine art.
Also, the many provincial festivals and events that show the traditions and characteristics of each particular area help one to understand many faces of Japan.
